CMUCam5 - can't update firmware

I went to update firmware tonight, and can’t get into the correct mode.

My PC is a Surface Book with current Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Pixymon is version 2.0.9.

Steps I take

  1. Start Pixymon
  2. Unplug CMUCam5
  3. Hold down switch
  4. Plug in USB

Expected:

Firmware upload dialog appears

Actual:

“USB inserted” chime sounds from Windows
Pixymon log shows: “Pixy programming state detected” and “…”
Front light on CMUCam5 on bright white
No dialog

Ideas?

I’d also be interested in knowing how to tell the installed firmware on the device.

Hi Steve,
Sorry for the problems. We’re guessing that the firmware is uploading, but Pixy is having trouble resetting. Can you replace the pixyflash.bin.hdr file in C:\Program Files (x86)\PixyMon\bin with this version, and then retry the firmware upload? This file will hopefully make the reset problem go away. Let us know what you find.

You can get the firmware version in the About dialog in PixyMon (with your Pixy plugged in).

Edward

That was it. Thanks, Edward!
