Compiler: RealView, DT-5, or gcc?

I saw on the wiki page that “currently” the ARM RealView compiler is used in the toolchain and was wondering if that is still the case? (no dates on the wiki items)

The reason I ask, it that the work you are doing on Pixy is great and I can not wait till I get one(!). ‘But’ was hoping that it would more than a ‘black box’ as it has been a long time since I touched RealView and no longer have access to any licenses. ARM has this compiler in ‘legacy’ support under DT-5, and thus it requires a DT-5 dual-license as the Community Edition of DT-5 only includes gcc (for ARM based Linux & Android dev work). I have not price it recently, but DT-5/RealView is out of my league for educational work.

Either way, I still forward to getting my Pixy even if I can not work on internal features.

Thanks and happy holidays,

Hi Robert,

Sorry for my late reply. Nothing has changed since we posted the wiki. We’re still using the ARM RealView and intend on supporting GCC in the near future so our users don’t need to worry about the expensive licenses.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Scott

Thank you for the reply. Enjoyed the latest vid update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja5geAAlOC0#t=18

…With arm-gcc support I can continue with my stereo vision work which would be great…

Happy New Year,
