PCB Drill Layer Types

Hi All,

It is not clear which holes are plated-thru-hold or non-plated-thru-hole. Anyone know?

Drill Information for thruhole.tap Layers 1 thru 4
Finished Hole Size(mils) Quantity Type
8.00 221 plated
15.00 25 plated
23.00 5 plated
37.00 6 plated
42.00 2 plated
61.00 2 plated
78.00 2 plated
81.00 2 plated
120.00 5 plated

Otherwise the design fails the manufacturer’s design rule check.

Thanks.

If you look at CMUCAMDRD.GBR, it details which holes are non-plated.

Yes - it does indeed have what I need. Thanks.

Hi,

I am still having trouble loading these files into Orcad Lite as the included .DSN file seems garbled (or binary type). Any clue how to load the DSN files?

Also, when the manufacturer design rule checks the files, we get these incorrectly sized holes (0 mils) throughout the design. I was hoping to load the file to check and correct these but no luck.

Thanks.

One problem seems to be related to assignment of drill types. Plated-Thru-Hole without the right annular ring size will show the exceptions noted in the report.

I have included the selection screen for the drill types.

The DSN file is definitely binary. We’re using Orcad Layout Plus 9.20 – I’m not familiar with Orcad Lite. Can you load the DSN file?

Hi Rich - I cannot seem to load the DSN into OrCAD 16.6 Lite. I will look into loading as a binary.
