problem for line detection

Hi everybody,
I bought a CMUcam 5 for a project, and I would like that this camera detect lines in more that classical object. I try be more explicit. I would like that the lines i want to detect are like the white lines on a football ground. It is possible ?
And if it is possible, are there possibility to know if my objects go out the lines are not ? Like if my lines are the limit border I can’t be exceeded.

I’m getting a basic idea of what you want to do, but can you describe the application in more detail? Is this for a soccer-playing robot?
