RAM and Pixy

Hello,

I’m looking to use the pixy for a project where I change the firmware, but I’m confused on RAM usage. Pixy uses a 640x480 RGB image but it says the RAM is only 256K, 640x480 alone eats more than the avail RAM. How does it do this? The pixy cannot store a single image in memory and perform operations on it? Would it be possible to store the entire 1280x800 image, because to me with that RAM space it would not.

Could someone help explain the inner workings of the pixy because I think the hardware is 99% of what I want minus the RAM space?

Thanks!

Hello spudz man,
Here is some background on Pixy and RAM:

hope this helps!

Yes it does! Thank you for the response and link.

It is too bad, I think the addition of a RAM chip would make the Pixy more versatile and open to really customizing the firmware.
