Would this camera be suitable for use in a pick-and-place machine, identifying component orientation, part numbers, etc.? Or would I be better off using plain cameras and OpenCV (I’ll have a fairly beefy machine connected, either a BBB or Mac Mini).
Hey Rick,
I think I just replied to your email via Amazon - you would be better off in this case using plain cameras and OpenCV. Pixy is not set up to feed raw images to other processors (like OpenCV) - it’s a purpose-built vision sensor that tracks colored objects, does all the processing onboard, and outputs data about those objects. It doesn’t have the capability to identify component orientation or part numbers.
Cheers,
Jesse
